With 2012 just around the corner, it is the start of another exhibitions calendar and that also means that it is almost time again for one of the most popular travel exhibitions in London each year, the France Show. The French have a passion and approach to life which many people from around the world find fascinating and this show is a chance for everyone to experience the best in French lifestyle and products under one roof, in the Earls Court Exhibition Centre.

Taking place on the 13th, 14th and 15th January 2012, this 3 day event is an excellent way to experience France without or before going there. Expect to experience everything from the best of French foods, wines, property, travel, tourism, language, culture, finance and law, making this easily the most comprehensive show in Europe about France, other than the shows which take place in France itself. Cuisine is a key element of French culture and this is not lost on the France Show, with several French chefs showcasing their skills and presenting at the event.

If you are interested in buying a property in France, whether it is as a second home or a home to permanently reside in, this is another key area which is covered at the France Show. You can meet with a host of estate agents and French property experts to help you make the right decision including on specific subjects such as the tax rules for British citizens owning property in France.

Held at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London, this Jewellery show is one of the largest and arguably the best jewellery shows to take place in the UK each year. It should be noted though that this is a trade only event and thus not open to the general public. For those of you who did attend this year’s show, I am sure you will agree that the event was a huge success given the number of exhibitors and visitors to attend, despite the concern with the difficult economic times.

The seminars at the International Jewellery show tend to be a very popular aspect of the show and it is always worth arriving early if you want to avoid having to stand for these talks. I found the seminars a wonderful part of the Jewellery Show and I particularly enjoyed talks on the luxury goods sector, the importance of branding within the Jewellery industry and new techniques in jewellery design.

This 4 day event sees people from all sides of the industry in attendance, be it jewellery designers, shops, online retailers and also companies who are involved with the mining of the precious stones which you tend to see on display.

One thing one does notice at this event is the level of security afforded to some of the displays. Given that some of the pieces of jewellery on view often cost tens of thousands of pounds each, the security is perhaps not so surprising. International Venues Spotlight: Rio Centro Exhibition Centre

Rio de Janeiro is an obvious choice of location for anybody looking to hold a conference or exhibition in Brazil. This is due to the fact that Rio is one of the largest cities in the country and has a great deal of resources to accommodate those participating in the event as well as those who are visiting. This fact will only be reiterated further in the coming years as the city evolves in order to host the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016.

The largest conference and exhibition centre in Rio de Janerio, and indeed in Latin America, is the Riocentro Exhibition Centre. Built in 1977 it is an absolute monster of a venue which has a number of different pavilions, all of which can host events of significant size. Indeed, 4 of the pavilions will be used for sporting events during the 2014 Olympics.

When combined, the pavilions add up to almost 6000 square metres, making it amongst the biggest venues in the world. The capacity of the venue depends on the nature of the event but easily exceeds 4,000 people. As well as being used for exhibitions, conferences and sport, the venue is also used for congresses and music events. The venue is continually evolved in keeping with new building trends and the majority of the pavilions are air conditioned to help manage the considerable temperatures which are regularly reached in this part of the world.

As would be expected of a venue of this size, the Riocentro has an in house catering department which can cater events of all sizes, although obviously the nature of the catering available may vary depending on the size of the event. There is also access to wi-fi internet throughout the venue meaning that exhibitors and visitors alike can take full advantage of this resource. Throughout London there are a number of exhibition centres which are vast and diverse, but amongst the largest and most diverse is the Excel Exhibition Centre in the Royal Victoria Docks. Earls Court & Olympia: 3 Hotels for Business Travellers

Getting the right hotel can have a great impact of ones experience of an exhibition I find. Staying in a hotel which offers affordable round the clock high speed Internet, a decent restaurant, bar and good service overall, leaves you able to focus on the business at hand. Stay in a bad hotel and lack of sleep from people running up and down the corridor all night and being unable to find anywhere nearby good to eat - and the time in London at an exhibition can begin to feel draining.

The good thing about attending exhibitions in London at the Earls Court and Olympia Exhibition venues is that there are many excellent hotels and a good choice. Below though we mention 3 of our favourites from personal experience.

1. The Bentley, A Waldorf Astoria Hotel - Although not in Earls Court itself, it is an easy and short taxi ride each morning and this hotel is splendid. Not the cheapest option by far, but if you want luxury, great service a world class restaurant in the hotel and real luxury, then the Bentley Waldorf comes highly recommended.

2. The Marriott Kensington - also in nearby Kensington, this hotel keeps up with the Marriott brand and if you travel often you might be like me, in that it is great to know what to expect in a hotel. I usually always choose the Marriott and the Kensington hotel meets all the standards one would expect. A great location also for good restaurants in the evenings.

3. Hilton London Olympia - For convenience to the Olympia venue, the Hilton Olympia s a very good option. Although not as decadent as the Bentley Waldorf, if you want a more affordable option to avoid paying £300 a night, this is a very good place to stay. It ticks a lot of the boxes and you can walk to the exhibition venue without the danger of getting stuck in any commuter traffic in a taxi cab.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year and hope that 2011 will be a great year for the Exhibitions and Conference industry and for you personally. There are signs that the economy is slowly picking up and hopefully everyone will have a fruitful 2011.

The Exhibitions calendar for 2011 will be as exciting as previous years, with some wonderful events lined up across the UK, Europe and worldwide. Already only days away are some of the big annual events to come, with the likes of London Boat Show, the France Show and Asia Expo.

My personal favourite out of the January 2011 events which I attend is always the Birmingham NEC based Autosport International Show (13th to 16th Jan) and which for a car buff like me, is a dream to be able to visit and enjoy. The France Show and French Property Exhibition (both in Earls Court, London between the 14th and 16th Jan) are both shows which tend to be very popular at the start of the year also. A chance to taste some wonderful French wines, cheeses and catch up with the latest business opportunities and services for the French market.

If you are organising an exhibition in London and want to avoid using one of the large and more expensive venues, the Business Centre in Islington, London, offers an excellent option for small and medium sized events. With a convenient location in the heart of London and as a versatile venue, there are six main areas to the Business Design Centre: the Mezzanine, the Gallery Hall, the Auditorium, Room A, Syndicate Rooms B-H, and the Executive Centre.

Which room or rooms you’ll need for your event will depend on how many people you’re expecting to host and what the nature of your event will be. A small business meeting might only need access to one of the Syndicate Rooms, while a large conference may require the use of the entire facility.

Exhibition Venues in Scotland

Following on from last week's blog post about Exhibitions in Scotland, a look this week at some of the venues. Scotland has a host of venues all around the country that cater for the large number of trade shows and exhibitions and the largest among them is The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow. With five large halls that range in size from 7,000m2 to 10,000m2, the largest, Hall 4, can easily accommodate over 10,000 delegates. The SECC holds many of the International shows such as the Scottish Wedding Show and is Scotland's top exhibition venue.

In Edinburgh, the Royal Highbury Centre is billed as the city's No. 1 event venue. It is extremely popular with trade shows from every industry due to its prime location, which is within one hour's drive of 60% of Scotland's population. With three large halls, the centre has a total floor space of over 18,000m2 that can easily cater for any trade show and its exhibitors.

A lot of exhibitions are also held in the country's concert halls, shopping centres and arenas. The Braehead Arena in Glasgow, for example, is a shopping centre that is also known to host wedding trade shows at certain times of the year. Glasgow's Concert Hall is also used for the same thing, when it's not showing the latest musical acts.

Aberdeen Exhibition Centre is a major venue on the East coast of Scotland and this holds a number of domestic shows and events throughout the year. The SECC is the primary venue for international exhibitions in Scotland and tends to be the main focus for the larger shows. Many of the top UK Exhibitions and Trade Fairs do take place in London and given the wide choice of exhibition venues, this is understandable. Scotland though has a lot to offer with a world class venue such as the SECC (Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre) and a number of international shows annually.

One of the biggest shows that Scotland plays host to is the BBC Good Food Festival which attracts thousands of people each year. There are car enthusiasts and then there are serious car enthusiasts. For serious car enthusiasts, Autosport International (the Racing Car Show) is one of the UK's leading annual shows for the automotive industry and attracts people from both the trade and from the general public. Taking place for 2011 between the 13th and 16th January at NEC Birmingham, the trade part of the show occurs on the first 2 days of the show, before the show opens to the public for the 15th and 16th January.

The show floor is separated into seven areas: Autosport Engineering, Trade & Technical Area, Careers in Motorsport, Historic Motorsport, Karting Area, National Motorsport, and Oval Racing and Extreme Motorsport. It can be worth prioritising the areas you wish to see, so that you have time to see the parts of the show you most want to see, given the size of this exhibition and how much there is to see and do.

It is still only October and we do not yet want to start thinking too much about Christmas and winter time but one certain advantage of the colder months is that it means Ski season. London Fashion Week

This week is not only about the visit of the Pope to the UK, but also sees the world of fashion head to London for the ever popular London Fashion Week. It's been a quite hectic few days down here at the Strand, as everyone gets ready for tomorrow with the show running through from the 17th to the 21st September.

This years London Fashion week takes place in and outside Somerset House, an iconic building which is an ideal venue given its West End location and with relatively good access via subway and close enough to the main airports for the many international visitors and exhibitors.

As one gets to expect with LFW, the show involves 6 days of shows and these tend to run from 9am through to 9pm and include many of the most famous fashion labels and designers; in addition to many of the talented newcomers. There are a hundred plus shows in all and thus the best option is to analyse the schedule and plan on seeing certain shows.

It is very busy down here in and around Somerset House and clearly a lot of money is floating around with some quite stunning displays and stands already erected. I've seen a few famous faces around the venue and many more stars will more than likely make their way down here in the coming days.

September is always a great month for exhibitions in the UK with arguably some of the best and most interesting shows which take place annually, take place in this month. There is literally a hundred or so major exhibitions during September and thus far too many to talk about on this blog. Some of my favourites though are the:

Speciality Chocolate Fair: For a chocolate lover such as myself, this show is a real treat and I never need any persuading to attend this show. If you have never tasted chili chocolate or 100% chocolate then this is your chance. This show takes place in London at the Olympia exhibition centre 5th, 67th and 77th September 2010. World of Learning Exhibition: I have attend this show a lot of times and I enjoy this show particularly because I see so many old friends there now. I also love the concept of education and learning and I see this as one of the most positive shows of all in the annual exhibitions calendar. (Takes place 28th and 29th September at Birmingham's NEC).

Shepton Mallet Antiques & Collectors Fair - Although perhaps not a large exhibition as such, it is one September show which I always enjoy visiting. If you have an interest in antiques then this is one of the best annual shows in the UK.

When planning to exhibit at an exhibition, you may be conscious of the fact that you will be stood literally within metres of your competition. You might immediately wonder if competing so closely can be of benefit. The fact is is that if you were not exhibiting then your competitors will be in attendance anyway, so why not be there competing.

There are many reasons to exhibit especially for example, when you consider that you will be dealing with a targeted market at exhibitions, with the people who do walk through the door clearly people have chosen to attend such an event. This would suggest that they have some involvement or genuine interest with regards to your field. Also if you have a genuinely good product, exhibitions also give you a very good sales environment on which to push for new business. What can be very important is getting your sales area perfect. Choosing the right exhibition stand design and the right spot will all affect how well you do.

Exhibitions are also fantastic for doing live demonstrations and for companies who for example, sell portable pop-up display stands, using an exhibitor's exhibition to demonstrate this pop-up banner, is the perfect opportunity. The product being sold becomes more tangible for the potential customer and the sales job potentially becomes easier.

Event Management Training Ltd based in West London are one such company and they offer courses specialising in practical skills, with training by industry professionals in the areas of Event Management and Public Relations. The full-time Postgraduate Diploma Course in Event Management, runs for 6 months with arranged work experience. The business also run evening Diplomas.

Great British Beer Festival

Apart from the Munich Beer Festival in Germany, one beer festival which I always try and attend and enjoy is the Great British Beer Festival. Once again taking place in the Earls Court Exhibition Centre, this 5 day show is now only a week away with the show starting Tuesday 3rd August. I plan to be there again this year for what will be my 5th visit to the show in 6 years and I cannot wait to see what new drinks have been created and are on offer.

For exhibitors this is a big event with purchasers, supermarkets, suppliers and even tourist boards all present and looking to do business. The UK drinks business is a massive industry and a show of this type is both fun for the exhibitors and visitors alike.

For visitors to the show, its a great chance to sample a wide variety of beers from the UK and worldwide. Many of the tastings are done with 'Tutored Tastings' kind of in the way in which one would sample wines on a vineyard tour. The Retirement Show 2010

With a mini heat wave taking place here in the UK and with good weather expected for another couple of days, many people are looking to get outdoors and enjoy the great weather whilst it is here. Looking at some outdoor event ideas:

It is hard to write a blog without mentioning Glastonbury Music Festival and chances are if you are heading to the festival then you'll already be there or checking the web on your phone. There are some excellent stands at the event for viewing everything from musical instruments, to clothing and information i.e. from Water Aid. You can literally spend half a day walking around enjoying the stalls and exhibits.

Biggin Hill International Air Fair - on the 26th and 27th June (this weekend) is another event will will draw in thousands of people and this event is spectacular in terms of live displays. In addition to the Red Arrows and some stunning aerobatic displays, there are plenty of stalls and exhibits dotted around the site and some great food to try also from the vendors who always attend. BBC Summer Good Food Show 2010

With the World Cup now only 4 days away, some people will be waiting with bated breath for the start of the tournament, whilst other people are already looking forward to it being over with. Whether you are a football fan or not though, there are plenty of very good exhibitions coming in the next 4 weeks either as something to experience in between games or as an escape from the TV.

One of these top shows is the BBC series of food shows which between the 16th - 20th June 2010 means the Summer BBC Good Food Show. This annual event is now well established and is one of those events which many people often attend year on year given the choice of food samplings, experts on hand and workshops.

Some popular TV chefs will be running some of the theatre/workshops this year - with Rachel Allen and James Martin both present in person. If beer rather than food is your thing then the Beer Tasting area highlights beers from a number of producers and is a great option, especially at only £7 for the entrance to this area. The cookery experience section with live cooking classes tends also to be another popular part of the Good Food Show. Allow plenty of time for this show i.e. a whole day because there is a lot going on.

Car Exhibitions and Expos are not for everyone but if you are interested in Motor Cars in anyway then there are always some excellent annual shows which take place across the world. The Motor industry is big business and this tends to reflect the size, length and budget spent on Motor Expos. Continuing from our blog last week, we are now down from days to hours, with London Wine Fair starting in a little over 12 hours time. I arrived here in London yesterday and its been quite a pleasant day down here at the docks where the ExCel Exhibition Centre is located. It's also been quite hectic inside the centre with a hundred plus exhibitors, wine experts and presenters getting set up for the first day of the show, tomorrow morning.

Some of the events and tastings which are planned are particularly exciting and some of the highlights I will be hoping to be able to attend (provided they do not overlap) include the:

Bezios Family stand

One week to go...London Wine Fair 2010

It's May 2010 already and that means it is time yet again for the annual London Wine Fair and all of the tastings, side shows and exhibits which are part of the show. One of many people's favourite exhibitions to attend and a fun event for exhibitors themselves to be a part of, this 3 day event for 2010 runs from the 18th May through to 20th May.

The show has now established its base as the ExCel Exhibition Centre in London and the highlights of the show are too many to mention. One aspect of the show which many visitors seem especially to enjoy though are the Masterclasses and with 14 classes this year the subjects will include:

Exhibitions in Exotic Locations: Hawaii (Part 1)

Finding oneself in an exotic location and as part of work can be a great way to see the world sometimes. It is not always ideal in that it is not the same as being on holiday and time to see the place itself really can be limited. Having said that though, not everyone gets to see places such as Fiji, Hawaii, Paris, Cape Town and Osaka. So to start off the 'Exhibitions in Exotic Locations' series, a look at Hawaii.

There are three main exhibition venues in Hawaii on the island of Honolulu with one a venue designed for exhibitions and conferences and two which are hotels and which often hold exhibitions. The Renaissance Ilikai Waikiki Hotel and the Hilton Hawaiian Village are used for shows such as the 'International Conference on Arts & Humanities' but it is the Hawaii Convention Center which is the most specific venue. Located in the business area of Honolulu and holding shows such as the 'World Class Wedding Expo' and the 'Build and Buy Green Conference and Expo' the main convention center is perfect for facilitating main shows.

If you are travelling from Europe, the trip to Hawaii can be quite a lengthy and exhausting one. San Fransisco, L.A. or Las Vegas are good choices for stop overs if you want to break the trip up. Once in Hawaii there are plenty of luxurious hotels and several well known chains near to the Hawaii Convention Center. If we have to go to an Exhibition or Conference abroad, many of us are quite happy to find ourselves somewhere warm and exotic in nature. Finding oneself in Miami Beach Convention Center is one of those locations along with the likes of Cuba, Hawaii, Barcelona and San Fransisco - all great places to be located for a few days.

Miami Exhibitions - Miami Beach Convention Center is one of the biggest and best venues in the local area and along with the Ft Lauderdale Conference Center, these two venues hold a number of international shows on a regular basis. The Miami Beach Center holds shows including the likes of the 'Swimwear Show', 'Miami Beauty Show' and the 'South Florida Auto Show'. An impressive venue, it is also within close enough distance of the beach itself, should you manage to get some spare time.

Miami is a big city and you should be careful with what parts you go to. Having said that, Miami is a lively, vibrant and wonderful city to enjoy if you have the chance to get a few hours or days off. Do try and take the chance to go and see Fort Lauderdale also if you have the chance.

Despite the problems with the volcanic ash and close down of flights in many European countries, the majority of Exhibitions and Conferences seem to be going ahead this week in the UK. This week in fact is a very active one for UK Exhibitions so a quick look at some of the highlights for the week ahead.

London Book Fair - An annual event and a niche which is well followed and which brings readers, traders and suppliers from across the UK and Internationally. The fair is definitely on despite the problems for several exhibitors to fly into the country. The fair in fact started today and runs through until Wednesday evening. There are still many top publishers and authors in attendance down here at Earls Court at London Book Fair.

Sustainability Live - The NEC Birmingham from tomorrow (20th April) plays host to a number events connected to their Sustainability Event which includes the Environmental Technology Show and IWEX (International Water and Effluent Treatment Exhibition). This is a big show and attracts the big players in the sustainable living business field.

SAR - Risk Mitigation in Search & Rescue Exhibition - Takes place North of the border in the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre from Wednesday (21st April). This is a very specialised event and mainly for industry insiders and executives. In its own niche, this is a key event for the industry.

Exhibitions Far from home - Havana, Cuba

Looking at some of the more unusual exhibition venues and locations worldwide in the 1st of a new series, this time a look at Exhibitions in Havana, Cuba.

Compared to a city such as London or Dublin, Havana has relatively few international exhibitions and this is understandable a reflection perhaps of the regulations which still stop a lot of people from flying between the U.S. and Cuba. There are neverthless some very good events such as the:

The Palco Exhibition Centre is the main exhibition venue in Cuba and is situated in central Havana (called Habana locally). The centre is well equipped and comes with the Palco hotel and certainly facilities which are good enough for international visitors. From Jose Martí International Airport you can get a taxi direct to the venue and flights to Cuba from countries such as the UK are more than possible - with airlines such as Virgin and British Airways both offering flights.

In the future, Cuba could become an important business venue with its perfect location between North and South America. If you do visit Cuba then watersports are excellent especially at Varadero Beach and there are plenty of organised tours to do if you have time off.

Upcoming Exhibitions in Ireland

Many readers of this blog spend a lot of time attending shows in Ireland (especially Dublin) and thus a quick look this time at some of the key exhibitions coming up in the next few months in the Irish capital.

1. Hospitality Expo - A massive show for the hospitality and related industries in Ireland, this show takes over the main hall in the RDS exhibition centre on the 9th and 10th March. Models, catwalk, fashion shows, seminars and plenty of exhibitors make this a key event for those who work and are interested in fashion in Ireland.

Across the five boroughs there are many choices of venues for these events. Over the next two blog posts, a look at 5 of the best exhibition venues in the city.

New York Marriott Marquis – The New York Marriott Marquis is located in the heart of New York City in Broadway and this venue is the location of choice for many upscale business exhibitions and trade shows. 3. Gotham Hall – Gotham Hall is the perfect location for smaller elite trade shows, especially for those that are invitation only. Gotham Hall is only available for a single event at any given time and so it is often booked six months to a year ahead of time. Many important business exhibitions and events take place at the Gotham Hall on an annual basis.

The Great Outdoors: 2010 Boat, Caravan & Outdoor Show

I am not sure about you, but when I travel I love to experience the outdoors although it is often too cold here in the UK to appreciate the outdoors given the weather. When I travel (or when its summer time in the UK) it can be great to camp out, take a long weekend in a caravan park or just go hiking along the coastline of Brittany, France for example.

City Spotlight: Las Vegas Exhibitions

Looking at Las Vegas for the latest of our City Spotlights, this city is quite incredibly in terms of the facilities and options available to exhibition organisers, exhibitors and attendees. It can almost be overwhelming with such a variety of exhibition venues to choose from as an organiser or hotels to stay in for all coming to the city.

Las Vegas Exhibition and Conference Centre - is the main venue for the largest exhibitions and with all of the facilities you could expect, also with plenty of parking and with a stop on the Vegas Monorail system very close, this is a good venue for events.

A large number of casinos though also offer excellent facilities for exhibitions and these venues include the:

Venetian Resort Hotel Casino.
Mandalay Bay Convention Center.
Sands Expo & Convention Center.

So many of the major hotels in Las Vegas are very well versed in dealing with large numbers of people and even some of the small casinos have very large spaces and rooms within their hotel. for conferences and exhibitions. Las Vegas is perhaps one of the most dynamic cities worldwide in terms of exhibition space and options.

Some very good exhibitions get held in Vegas annually in Las Vegas and upcoming events include 'International Hospitality Week' and the 'National Hardware show'. In terms of access for people coming into the city, McCarran Airport is very close to the main casinos and a short can ride.

2010 Lingerie and Swimwear Show

It seems like only yesterday when I was in Harrogate at the 2009 Lingerie and Swimwear show, enjoying the new collections and yet it is time again for the next edition of this show. Time passes too quickly sometimes.

The 2010 show kicks off on the 28th February and takes place over a 2 day period in Harrogate at the Old Swan Hotel. Those of you who live closer to Bournemouth can attend the 14th - 15th March show in the Royal Bath Hotel, Bournemouth.

This is a much smaller exhibition than some of the major shows in the bigger venues, with this show a newer event which is still finding its place in the market. This show though, if you leave within reasonable distance of either venue is great for seeing the latest lingerie and swimwear styles and to shop. For exhibitors, it is an excellent chance to get the chance to market and at a lower price than the major venues tend to charge (£350+vat for this show).

For those of you involved with the trade, another show of note in this field is 'Mode City 2010' an event which takes place in Paris and is one of the key events in Europe for lingerie and swimwear.

Exhibitions in Hotels

Exhibitions for the trade and public are not always held in the major Exhibition and Conference centre's such as Earls Court, Dublin's RDS and Scotland's SECC (Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre). Many exhibitions are also held in hotels and the SPATEX show in Brighton's Hilton Metropole is one example from this coming weekend.

There are many pros and cos of holding an exhibition in a hotel rather than a major exhibition centre, just as there are only some great advantages. Exhibition organisers in particular might be interested to consider the pros and cons.

Advantages:

Accommodation and facilities all in the same building (rooms, restaurant and bar included). It can be tiring organising an exhibition and being an exhibitor with long hours often involved. having everything literally within minutes can be very handy.
Costs - Many hotels offer rates which mean you can save a substantial costs on the cost of organising an exhibition.
Location - Hotels can often offer much easier locations than some of the main exhibition venues. A hotel for example which is adjoined to a major airport can make it far easier for exhibitors and exhibition visitors.

Disadvantages:

Space - is the key reason why some exhibition organisers plump for the main exhibition venues. An exhibition such as a major Motor Show cannot realistically take place in a hotel and a major exhibition venue is much more practical.
Reputation - Some exhibition organisers find that some shows better suit major venues in that they wish to enhance the reputation of an event by being able to say that the event is held at a major venue. There is nothing of course to suggest that there is anything at all wrong with using hotel exhibition and conference facilities; just that some event organisers want to attach the reputation and name of a major venue to their own event.

If you yourself are organising an exhibition then the factors above such as space, costs and facilities will come into play.

City Spotlight: Barcelona Exhibitions

One of the cities in Europe which is many people's favourite for exhibitions outside of the UK is Barcelona. The warm and long sunny days, outdoor cafes and relaxed pace of life can all be enjoyed if you are in Barcelona - provided you get the chance to add a day or so onto your stay in the city.

It is true that many of us get to experience more of the inside of exhibition halls than the cities we visit. Having said that though, I find that even going for a nice meal in the evening after an exhibition can at least mean the chance to sample the local foods and wines.

Venues, Transport and staying in Barcelona - There are always many excellent exhibitions being held in Barcelona and with several venues including the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB), Palau de Congressos de Catalunya and several other venues, there are many options for locations if you are an events organiser. If attending an exhibition the excellent Barcelona transport system and also with a choice of 3 airports serving Barcelona, getting to and from the city is relatively easy.

Upcoming Exhibitions - One of big annual exhibitions in Barcelona and one which is only now 2 weeks away from its 2010 event is the Mobile World Congress. This show brings together those involved with the Telecommunications industry from locations worldwide. Also coming up soon some key events include the:
