Exhibitions In Scotland

Many of the top UK Exhibitions and Trade Fairs do take place in London and given the wide choice of exhibition venues, this is understandable. Scotland though has a lot to offer with a world class venue such as the SECC (Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre) and a number of international shows annually.

One of the biggest shows that Scotland plays host to is the BBC Good Food Festival which attracts thousands of people each year. Like so many of Scotland's trade shows, including a host of home interior trade shows such as the Homes and Interiors Scotland Exhibition and Scottish Home Improvement & Self Build Show, the Good Food Festival is held at the SECC. Other design exhibitions, such as the National Home and Design show, are held at the Royal Highbury Centre in Edinburgh.

Scotland also plays host to several wedding trade shows such as the The Best Scottish Weddings Exhibition and Scotland's Exclusive Wedding Event, both which are held in Glasgow. One of Scotland's largest and most popular wedding and jewellery trade shows is the Edinburgh Wedding and Fashion Show, which is held in the city's Corn Exchange. Each year, the show promises an exclusive collection of the latest bridal fashions, as well as the other accessories that go into a wedding such as make-up, jewellery and hair specialists.

However the largest trade shows held in the country are responsible for a crucial part of Scotland's economy – tourism. The Visit Scotland Expo is now in its 30th year and is one of the country's flagship trade shows. Uniting Scottish businesses and the country's tourism board, the Visit Scotland expo aims to keep promoting the country and its attractions to the whole world.

Exhibition Themes: Cars and Auto Sports

There are car enthusiasts and then there are serious car enthusiasts. For serious car enthusiasts, Autosport International (the Racing Car Show) is one of the UK's leading annual shows for the automotive industry and attracts people from both the trade and from the general public. Taking place for 2011 between the 13th and 16th January at NEC Birmingham, the trade part of the show occurs on the first 2 days of the show, before the show opens to the public for the 15th and 16th January.

The show floor is separated into seven areas: Autosport Engineering, Trade & Technical Area, Careers in Motorsport, Historic Motorsport, Karting Area, National Motorsport, and Oval Racing and Extreme Motorsport. It can be worth prioritising the areas you wish to see, so that you have time to see the parts of the show you most want to see, given the size of this exhibition and how much there is to see and do.

If you are visiting as a member of the public, many people tend to particularly enjoy the chance to see a few ex-F1 cars on display and it is not unknown for a few F1 and F2 stars (past and present) to be seen walking around during the show. You can learn more about the exhibition direct online from the official Autosport International website. Prices for members of the public i.e. for a standard adult ticket cost £30 and although not the cheapest of shows, it still very worthshile attending given the size of this show.

Ski Exhibition and Expos

It is still only October and we do not yet want to start thinking too much about Christmas and winter time but one certain advantage of the colder months is that it means Ski season. To meet the demand for the sales of ski and snowboarding products, holidays and services there are some excellent shows which take place in the UK and Ski ExpoEurope. One of my favourite shows is the Metro Ski & Snowboard Exhibition.

This London based shows takes place on the 20th to 24th October for 2010 and is a show which attracts many exhibitors from around the world to the Olympia Exhibition Centre. This is an excellent show for all the family with child friendly areas and plenty going on in terms of entertainment and with all of the latest clothing, gadgets, ski and snowboarding technology on hand to see and try out.

Highlights for the 2010 show include the:
  • Mountain Theatre (where you can watch a wide variety of winter sports related movies)
  • Ski Jobs Fair
  • Ski Fashion fair (with catwalk and models showing the latest ski fashions)
  • Husky Lodge
You can learn more about the 2010 Metro Ski Show online and exhibitors in need of Pop Up stands can buy stands online via Clip Ltd.

5 Ways to Market Direct to Customers (Part 2)

3. Direct Mail - Sending direct mail is a great way to market direct to customers. The mail can be something as simple as a thank you note, an invitation to the company’s anniversary celebration, an introduction to a new product or service and so on. Having an actual opt in area for people to sign up on your site means one of the most effective forms or Mercury bannermarketing in terms of cost to lead, with people opting in of their own accord.

4. Newsletters - Newsletters are a great way to keep in touch with existing customers and attract new ones. A newsletter can contain important company news, information about new products and services, promotional offers, discount offers and freebies. This can be combined with the direct mail targeting.

5. Websites - Creating a website and attracting traffic is one of the most effective of direct marketing techniques, in fact, marketing experts have found it to be more effective than direct mail and most forms of marketing currently available. Websites with valuable content can attract a large volume of traffic, of which a significant percentage will definitely become the company’s loyal customers.
