Driving to Exhibitions and Conferences in the UK

Every week thousands of us are travelling the roads of the UK to get to Exhibitions and Conferences in locations such Birmingham's NEC, the Scottish SECC, across the water via ferry to the RDS for Dublin exhibitions and also to the main venues in London and Manchester.

There are many tools for making driving around the UK and Ireland more efficient and some of out favourites include these below:

RAC Routefinder: For getting an idea of the journey length and to print directions and a map (especially useful if your SatNav fails or as a backup) if helpful. RAC Routefinder also provides mileage numbers and this can help when documenting mileage for tax returns and other necessary claims.Petrol prices

TomTom Live Services: The Live services bundle for the TomTom SatNav can be very useful if you are on the road a lot. The package includes Safety Alerts, Fuel Prices and weather updates related to traffic.

PetrolPrices iPhone application - Petrolprices.com have now released an iPhone application and this potentially can help you save hundreds in petrol costs. The application includes information compiled from over 10,000 garages. Further Dublin Transport information.

Exhibitions Far from home - Havana, Cuba

Looking at some of the more unusual exhibition venues and locations worldwide in the 1st of a new series, this time a look at Exhibitions in Havana, Cuba.

Compared to a city such as London or Dublin, Havana has relatively few international exhibitions and this is understandable a reflection perhaps of the regulations which still stop a lot of people from flying between the U.S. and Cuba. There are neverthless some very good events such as the:
The Palco Exhibition Centre is the main exhibition venue in Cuba and is situated in central Havana (called Habana locally). The centre is well equipped and comes with the Palco hotel and Cuba exhibitionscertainly facilities which are good enough for international visitors. From Jose Martí International Airport you can get a taxi direct to the venue and flights to Cuba from countries such as the UK are more than possible - with airlines such as Virgin and British Airways both offering flights.

In the future, Cuba could become an important business venue with its perfect location between North and South America. If you do visit Cuba then watersports are excellent especially at Varadero Beach and there are plenty of organised tours to do if you have time off.
