UK Travel and Snow News: Getting to Exhibitions

If you are attending an Exhibition, Fair or Christmas Market or trying to, you quite likely are being affected by the heavy snow falls in many European countries and also in locations such as the U.S. Focusing on the UK, below a look at some useful sources, in case you need to check travel news for getting to your planned event.

Many radio stations are offering 15 minute and continual updates on the latest hold ups travel wise. BBC Radio 5 Live both on its website and on radio are one key source for travellers, including for EuroStar and Snow newsairports news. To keep up-to-date with the latest weather and 3-5 day predictions BBC Weather for snow reports is worth using.

In terms of Exhibitions and the other events themselves. Most seem to be going ahead due to the fact that many are held indoors. Christmas Fairs and shows also quite possibly in many ways will benefit with snow a popular symbol for xmas. The idea of hot spicy cider also, I am sure you agree just appeals even more.

Let us take this chance also to wish you a very happy Christmas and a Happy New Year. 2010 will see the UK rise from recession and let us hope that business for everyone is much better this coming year.

...more Christmas git ideas for Exhibition & Events workers

The Christmas ideas for Exhibition and Events people post proved to be popular going by the emails we received, thus I thought I'd mention another 3 ideas. With time still order presents online or to buy in person, ideas 4 - 6 below.

4. Emergency Phone Charger - A lot of us in the Exhibition industry find ourselves on the road a lot, with several events, trade shows and exhibitions to attend. We also need our mobile phones a lot and working. Companies such as firebox.com offer emergency phone chargers and these offer emergency recharging.

5. Also from firebox.com, the Digital Photo Keychain is a very inexpensive yet nice gift. Being on the road and away from family sometimes for a few days is not always ideal. Having a dozen or or photos on this USB compatible Photo Keychain is a nice idea.

6. 2010 Diary - Staying organised is much easier these days with tools such as Microsoft Outlook calendar and with scheduling possible on many mobile phones. Some people though prefer a hard copy and a good 2010 diary can be a handy and and inexpensive gift.

It is only 2 weeks to go now until Christmas Day and excitement for many is building. It has been a good year for some and a tough one for others but most of us are looking forward to a few days break and plenty of food and a few drinks. With such a short time to go, what presents are worth buying colleague or friends who work in the Exhibitions industry? Below 3 ideas for inexpensive buy useful gifts.

1. Portable Travel scales - A lot of Exhibition industry employees travel extensively for trade and public exhibitions, including internationally. With airlines clamping down heavily on excess baggage, these travel scales are very effective, sturdy and yet light and only cost around £10.

2. Portable USB drive - Even if travelling with a laptop, having a portable USB drive can save a lot of time and a massive 16GB USB drive, it is big enough to store most files you will need. Available on amazon.co.uk for £17.99 and an excellent gift.

3. If you are looking to spend more money for a special reason, perhaps for example to thank staff as a bonus, then a Flip Video is an excellent item. Perfect for shooting photos and video, including to capture information at trade events, this is a nifty item which is very compact and incredibly easy to use.

Exhibitions to start off 2010

2009 has been another interesting year with some excellent exhibitions across the UK, Europe and worldwide and covering a wide range of subjects and for both the public and trade. 2010 kicks off just as strongly with some big Exhibitions. Below 3 big Exhibitions starting us off in 2010.

1. The France Show - returns again for 2010 and the continued interest in everything French means that this show always attracts a large number of exhibitors and visitors. Expect to see exhibits covering French property, food business and products. Taking place at Earls Court, London on the 8th, 9th and 10th January, this event has some very good seminars and 2010 Exhibitionsworkshops.

2. London Boat Show - A 10 day marathon event which takes place at the ExCel Exhibition Centre in London. The centre is perfect for the boat show, with its pier and ability to have boats right up alongside the exhibition venue. Apart from Southampton Boat Show, this is considered the main boat show of the year and every major player in the industry normally tries to make it to this event: 8th - 17th January 2010 are the dates for your calendar.

3. Autosport International Show - A show taking place in the NEC in Birmingham 14th - 17th January, 2010, the first 2 days are for Trade only and the last 2 days open to the public. This is a major show for the automobile and racing industry and expect to see several Motor Racing stars at the event (particularly with the F1 season in its off-season).
